On August 5, 2022, former radio DJ and YouTuber Darryl Ian Koshy, known to the public as Dee Kosh, was sentenced to 32 weeks in jail for sexual offences involving teenage boys, closing a case that had shocked Singapore's entertainment scene. The 33-year-old had pleaded guilty in May to attempting to procure an indecent act from a young person and communicating with a minor to obtain sexual services, in relation to two teenage victims. Two further charges, relating to two other victims, were taken into consideration for sentencing.

Court documents showed that Koshy had solicited paid sex from four teenage boys between February 2017 and August 2020, even after being told they were underage. He also admitted to secretly filming himself having sex with another man, then aged between 23 and 25, without the man's consent; two charges of making and possessing obscene films were taken into consideration. Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Ying Min called him a seasoned criminal skilled at avoiding detection, describing the offences as highly premeditated, and sought five to eight months' jail. The defence asked for two and a half months, citing remorse and a psychiatrist's assessment of good rehabilitation prospects.

In sentencing, District Judge Jasvender Kaur noted that Koshy had brushed off one teenager who repeatedly said he was underage, and that he had taken deliberate steps to conceal his actions, moving conversations to Telegram and Snapchat for their privacy features. She rejected the defence's argument that he did so merely to be discreet about his sexuality. The court also heard that he had been persistent, at one point asking a victim to think of the money he was offering, and that he had exploited his social media fame to track down one of the boys after spotting him at a video shoot.

Dee Kosh had risen to fame through his YouTube channel and as a presenter on radio station Power 98, and had been a co-host with Night Owl Cinematics before being quietly let go after the allegations surfaced in August 2020. Before beginning his sentence he posted a final apology note on Instagram, writing that he had lost his career, loved ones and his family's trust, and would face his mistakes broken. He was released in March 2023, his fall from local stardom complete.

The road to sentencing had been long and bitter. When the allegations first surfaced in 2020, Koshy had initially denied them, posting a YouTube video in which he claimed he was not a paedophile and said the teenage boys had lied to him about their ages. He was quietly dropped by Night Owl Cinematics in August 2020 and lost his presenting work, watching his career disintegrate long before he ever saw the inside of a courtroom. By the time he pleaded guilty in May 2022, he had already spent two years as a pariah. The Instagram apology he posted before beginning his sentence drew sharply divided reactions, with some followers rejoicing at his downfall and others offering encouragement. He was released in March 2023, but the Dee Kosh brand, once one of the most recognisable in Singapore's YouTube scene, had been destroyed beyond repair.
